Global music icon and 14-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift has released a new single, "I Knew It, I Knew You," along with an accompanying music video, which was written and filmed exclusively for the upcoming Disney and Pixar animated blockbuster "Toy Story 5." This is her first music release after the success of last year's album "The Life of a Showgirl".
The song "I Knew It, I Knew You", signed by Taylor Swift and her longtime creative collaborator Jack Antonoff, brings an emotional story of reunion, healing and renewal of old relationships. Musically, the track represents an exciting return to the tradition and acoustic country textures that marked the early part of Taylor's career, with the use of instruments such as banjo, harmonica and pedal steel guitar. The music video for "I Knew It, I Knew You" features nostalgic footage from across the franchise with a focus on Jessie.
The song is directly inspired by the emotional journey of beloved cowgirl Jessie. Taylor Swift, who grew up with the film series, wrote on her Instagram profile: "Writing this song felt like a musical step forward and a homecoming at the same time. Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge, but at the same time it felt completely natural. And being a Toy Story kid from the age of five to this day... it's an adventure I plan to stay on - to infinity and beyond. Thanks to the brilliant Andrew Stanton for imagining me in this role all those years ago when wrote this latest movie. Thank you to the inimitable Randy Newman for the wonderful tapestry of songs and instrumentals he has painstakingly woven into the world of Toy Story, and we are lucky to live in it. By 'we', I mean my friend Jack Antonoff, we wrote this song with so much adoration for these characters who made us laugh and taught us to think outside the box. own yard during entire childhood".
"Toy Story 5" director and writer Andrew Stanton praised Taylor's immediate and deep connection with the character of Jessie, noting that from the first listen the song sounded like it always belonged in that world.
The premiere of "Toy Story 5", in which Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the gang face new challenges, is scheduled for June 18.
The release of "I Knew It, I Knew You" is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal and YouTube Music, as well as worldwide in all digital stores
