British pop star Charli XCX has released a new single "SS26" (Warner Music/Mascom), with a striking music video signed by the directing duo TORSO, known for their collaboration with the artist on the video for the song "Von Dutch".
Charli XCX places the video for the song in the glamorous chaos of the catwalk and backstage space during Paris Fashion Week, turning the video into a kind of catalog of the most influential names of the contemporary fashion and creative scene.
In the video, Charli XCX wears a series of striking fashion combinations, alternating between the atmosphere of the catwalk and the chaotic energy behind the scenes, while at one point she recovers from a fall on the runway - in the manner of iconic fashion moments from pop culture.
The video opens with legendary French fashion editor Carine Roitfeld, who says from the front row: "Fashion won't save us. But let's get out on the runway and walk." The singer Abra also appears in the video.
Conceived as a fashion show full of quick and subtle references, the video for "SS26" brings together a number of cult figures of the fashion industry and the underground creative scene. In addition to Carina Roitfeld, the video also features Debra Shaw, one of the most recognizable supermodels of the nineties, as well as Anthony Vaccarello, creative director of the Saint Laurent fashion house, whose ambassador for YSL Beauty Charli XCX recently became.
Among the names that appear in the video are legendary music director of fashion shows Michel Gaubert, known for soundtracks for Chanel, Prada and Saint Laurent, then fashion PR expert Lucien Pagès, designer Benjamin Barron, model Farida Khelfa, as well as numerous other names of the fashion and art scene.
"SS26" comes on the heels of "Rock Music," her first solo single since the Brat era, as well as "I Keep On Thinking Bout You Every Single Day and Night," which was available exclusively on vinyl and on her Instagram profile. At the beginning of the year, her accompanying album for the film Wuthering Heights directed by Emerald Fennell was also released.
Although Charli XCX is a global pop sensation, her work has a strong resonance on the domestic market as well - her releases achieved over 50 million streams in Serbia, while the album Brat attracted a lot of audience attention on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. Her music is also available through physical editions in online shops and stores such as MASCOMSTORE.
