If there is one musician whose name could be followed by the word “versatility,” it is Saša Antić. Or Alejuandro Buendia. Or Buendia from Baba Yaga. Or simply Saša – one of those artists who have spent decades crossing the boundaries of genres, formats and collaborations, while always leaving a recognisable authorial mark.
A founder, songwriter and one of the key voices of Split-based The Beat Fleet, Saša Antić has long been much more than the label “rapper” would suggest. His musical signature can be found in hip-hop, rock, funk, blues, electronica, satire and spoken word, as well as in projects that deliberately refuse to be any one of the above. Alongside TBF, he has also built his own artistic world under the pseudonym Alejuandro Buendia, releasing the solo albums Pepermint, Šporka posla and Škrinja, while through the Sinestet project he explored more experimental hip-hop and funk territory.
And then there is perhaps his most important quality – curiosity.

Saša Antić clearly has no desire to repeat himself. His list of collaborators is almost as interesting as his discography. One of his most intriguing recent chapters is Baba Yaga, a project that brought together Saša Antić, Jadranka Ivaniš Yaya and producer Marco Grabber. Their album Musaka opened up a world where rock, country, trip-hop, Latin, ethno and tropical influences meet, wrapped in a generous dose of dark humour and visual imagination.
It is precisely the Baba Yaga track “Baterije” that is now nominated for the Muzzik Video Awards 5G in the Animated category. The project itself was conceived as a kind of musical and visual universe, with the animated characters Yaga, Buendia and Gibber appearing throughout a series of videos.
But that is only the beginning of Antić’s MVA5G journey this year.
In the Together category, we find “Izili miši”, his collaboration with Elvis Sršen. The song grew out of a spontaneous creative encounter and, in its final form, turns the everyday reality of island life – far removed from tourist postcards – into a distinctive blend of blues, humour and Dalmatian sensibility. The video was filmed in Trogir and Kaštela, and also features Ričard, aka Enio Meštrović, further blurring the boundaries between music, performance and social commentary.
In the Direction category, Antić appears with “Dišpet”, a collaboration with Split band No Comment. And it is difficult to imagine a song carrying more of that unmistakable Split combination of music, football, defiance, identity and - naturally - dišpet. The track reaches back to the legendary story of how Hajduk was founded in Prague and transforms it into a musical tale about the city, the club and an unbreakable sense of belonging.
The fourth nomination takes us even further back into Split’s musical heritage. In the COVER category, there is “Marčelina”, recorded by Jakša & Hrepa with Saša Antić as a new interpretation of a classic by the legendary Toma Bebić. Three generations and three distinctive artistic sensibilities came together in this acoustic version, while the video was shot in a single afternoon, with a strong southern wind blowing – about as Split as it gets.
And that may be the best way to understand Saša Antić.
Because between Baba Yaga’s animated universe, Elvis Sršen’s island blues, Split “dišpet” with No Comment and a reinterpretation of Toma Bebić, there is no obvious genre formula. What connects them is an artist who is never afraid to enter someone else’s musical space and find his own way of speaking within it.
Collaborations have always been an essential part of that language. One of the better-known examples is “Sve prolazi” with Edo Maajka, released on the 2008 album Balkansko a naše. Antić’s contribution to the song came almost at the last minute, he stepped in with the chorus which, according to Maajka, took the track to another level.

And the story continues. Antić remains active in new projects, new combinations and new genre experiments, including a new organic hip-hop project with GATUZ, announced in 2026 with the single “Izvanredno stanje” and a ten-track album.
And that's why the four MVA5G nominations are not just a statistic that looks nice. They are almost a small map of Antic's career: Animated, Together, Directing and COVER – four categories, four different musical worlds and four completely different faces of the same author, so it would be extremely interesting to see if Saša Antic will add one, two, three or even four traditional Muzzik Video Awards awards to his previous one, unique guitars with the Muzzik author's signature?
