The summer of 2026 begins as the season where the album stops being just a music release and becomes a complete pop cultural event, built through stages, performances, visuals and digital narratives.
Instead of the classic "release moment", albums today function as a process - through singles, music videos, public performances and viral moments through which performers introduce the audience to their entire aesthetic universe. Music, fashion, film and digital culture become part of the same language.
In this context, the new album-projects of Madonna, Charli xcx, Olivia Rodrigo and Ariana Grande, with the frame of reference of David Bowie, show how contemporary pop is moving into the form of the "total album" - where each element of the launch is carefully constructed as part of the story.
We present five albums that will mark this summer, and millions of streams on the domestic market confirm the strong presence of these artists, as well as their audience and popularity, in Serbia and the region.

Madonna / Confessions II
Madonna's new album, Confessions II (July 3, Warner Records/Mascom), is a continuation of the cult release Confessions on a Dance Floor, but also a contemporary reinterpretation of it.
The album combines the disco heritage and Stuart Price's modern electronic production, with a focus on the club as an emotional and social space. The promotional phase was marked by the single "Bring Your Love" (ft. Sabrina Carpenter), the big Times Square takeover in New York and the visual film Confessions II - The Film, which connects music and narrative in a unique audio-visual project.
As the release approaches, the world public and fans do not calm down, this album is already marked as a multimedia pop project that erases the boundary between music, performance and public space.
Charli xcx / Music, Fashion, Film
Charli XCX's album, Music, Fashion, Film (July 24, Atlantic/Warner Music/Mascom), is conceived as an interdisciplinary project that connects music, fashion and film.
The singles "SS26" and "Rock Music" introduce the aesthetic direction of the album, while the cover featuring John Caleo, Marc Jacobs and Martin Scorsese symbolizes three creative worlds that intertwine in one idea. Charli continues to blur the lines between mainstream and experimental pop, turning the album into a platform for contemporary cultural production.
David Bowie / Blackstar
David Bowie's Blackstar (out July 24) remains one of the most important contemporary music releases. The fusion of art rock, jazz and experimental structure, along with collaboration with New York jazz musicians, creates an album that is seen today as an artistic testament to identity and transformation. It is a release that was separated from the box set I Can't Give Everything Away (2002-2016).
The songs "Blackstar" and "Lazarus" became symbols of his last creative chapter, and the album received the status of a farewell manifesto after his death.
Olivia Rodrigo / You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love
Olivia Rodrigo's third album (June 12, Geffen Records) confirms her status as a global pop voice of a new generation.
It retains the confessional tone, but brings a more mature and production-complex expression. Robert Smith's guest appearance on "What's Wrong with Me" opens the album's darker, more introspective layer. The album was met with strong global success and topped the charts across the US, Europe and Australia.
Ariana Grande / Petal
Petal (July 31, Republic Records/BabyDoll Music) marks a new creative phase for Ariana Grande and her most autonomous work to date.
Ariana Grande - hate that i made you love me
The album, created in collaboration with Ilya Salmanzadeh, focuses on themes of growth, regeneration and emotional change, through a more intimate and introspective pop expression. The promotion of the album is built through singles and visual fragments that follow the idea of transformation and "a flower born from pressure".
For everyone who is building or adding to their vinyl collection, selected editions will be available in Serbia in MASCOMSTORE record stores, as well as through the online shop mascom.rs.
