Singer-songwriter Ivan Bošković, better known by his stage name Kosmogenit, released the sixth single "Makovi" from the upcoming debut album "Snovest" for Glitch Records.
"For years, I performed the song only in a small circle of friends, in an acoustic manner, but I always heard it in my head as a Latin rhythm, even though its lyrics stuck in my throat. My opus is definitely 'music for second listening', incompatible, and yet it works," says Kosmogenit.
With "Makovi", the singer-songwriter brings a significant change in his creative process. Although the track was created in a home studio, this is the first time that he gathered a group of musicians around him to turn the original idea into a more complex arrangement.
The song featured Milan Petrović on piano, Luka Jelisavcić on drums and Dragan Porčić who played the brass section. The mix and master is signed by producer and multi-instrumentalist Dragan Ivanović, while Bojan Sekulić was in charge of recording wind instruments.
"I'm used to doing most of the things myself. Here, for the first time, I happened to host great musicians who further refined my vision with their stamp. It changed the song, and in a way, Kosmogenit," says Ivan Bošković regarding the new single.
Kosmogenit directed and edited the video, while Ivan Kulezić was in charge of the camera. As with previous releases, the visual identity additionally builds the atmosphere of the song, all in the service of the conceptual nature of the album.
"'Makovi' have always reminded me of an abandoned amusement park, a place that once resounded with joy and excitement, but now is a pile of rusty metal and cracked plastic. So we built the narrative of the video on that contrast," says Ivan Bošković.
