Twenty One Pilots – “Drag Path” delivers a visually striking animated story

American duo Twenty One Pilots have released their new single and accompanying video “Drag Path,” adding another atmospheric and emotionally charged chapter to their distinctive narrative universe. The video unfolds as a carefully crafted animated piece directed and written by Tobias Gundorff Boesen, who also handled storyboards and art direction. Animation was created by Katrine Poulsen, Boesen, Frederik Villumsen and Christophe Peladan, while Andreas Berg and Martin Bested were responsible for photography and lighting.

“Drag Path” carries the introspective tension and layered symbolism that longtime fans have come to expect. Its melancholic tone and immersive visual storytelling align seamlessly with the band’s signature fusion of alternative rock, pop, and hip-hop elements.

Formed in 2009 by Tyler Joseph and evolving into a duo with drummer Josh Dun in 2011, the band achieved global breakthrough with the 2015 album Blurryface, featuring massive hits such as “Stressed Out” and “Ride.” Over the years, they have built an expansive conceptual narrative across albums including Trench, Scaled and Icy, and their 2024 release Clancy.

With “Drag Path,” Twenty One Pilots once again merge music and imagery into a cohesive artistic statement, reinforcing their position as one of the most compelling acts in modern alternative music.
